Much of this music has emerged from a collection of wonderful ethnic instruments, found,
gathered and hauled around the world. With few exceptions the music plumbs these sources,
both in live performance and studio works. I have electro-acoustic contouring interests.

Recent music explorations with Jamie Sturrock (guitar, shakuhatchi), and Bradley Vines
(saxophone), have provided opportunities to work from scratch with hand-drum-dance-
percussion. Wide ranging sessions have resulted in open melodic territories, impromtu forms.

Work in Caracas allowed a continuation of contemporary dance music that began in London.
I have spent many years in the company of dancers working in studios where imaginative
things happen. It has allowed me to find a better understanding of a body-music and I still
play drums, live for dance training. My apparent apptitude for this seemed to arise from a
childhood spent in my mother’s dance studio.  One day I told her I would be a musician.
Admittedly I have somewhat adventurous metaphysical / philosophical interests, but while I
explore these as concepts for music, there is always room for a few surreal juxtapositions of
things, fantasy frontiers, imagination. I have a suspicion that Nature and animals speak
profoundly to humans and that there is great benefit in listening carefully to ideas expressed.
In Seattle I was a member of the group Gamelan Pacifica. Working with gamelan instruments, my
interests in world music were reinforced. Indonesian music, both ancient and modern captured
my soul. Working with groups in Glasgow, North and South America I have been able to explore
a range of adapted and transformed ideas. I have discovered the tonalities of gongs.
